BIRTH ISN’T SCRIPTED, IT UNFOLDS

Being a doula has taught me how to be incredibly flexible, to be in the present moment, go with the flow and trust the unfolding of each individual birth. The first thing I say when prepping my clients for birth is that you can’t predict birth. You should always have a vision and set your intention or a goal, work and prepare for it but you also must allow some flexibility with that goal. When we cling to tightly to a vision or try and control it our body will constrict and become ridged. When we allow and trust the unfolding our bodies begin to soften. This is a hard one to grasp for those who like to control situations -Nobody can tell you when…

Sometimes you have to vibe alone to understand things

Sometimes you have to vibe alone to really understand things. It’s really important and very healthy to take the time every once in a while to go inward and retreat in solitude. Carving out sacred time in your life to go within to process, find clarity, balance, recharge and redirect your energy is a necessity. When we are so caught up on the hamster wheel of life we often don’t see the light or feel the truth of what’s really going on or what’s needed … It’s not until we step away and drop in that things become crystal clear. www.loribregman.com

BIRTH VISION BOARD – POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS

EMPOWER YOURSELF – I LOVE me some positive birth affirmations! This is something I started having my mindful moms to be do when I prep them for birth… They have found it super helpful as your mindset is everything … Not to mention it’s been a HUGE hit with the hospital staff .. In fact my last birthing mama said all the doctors and nurses loved it so much and thought it was brilliant that they all asked to take photos of it ! First make a list of your fears and then change them into positive affirmations. Example: “I am so scared my labor is going to last for days and be super painful” to “I am strong and will birth my baby quickly…

FALL ENERGY

It’s raining, there is a crispness and coolness in the air; the leaves are starting to change and fall as the days grow shorter and shorter. Its the autumn, my very favorite time of the year. Every year around this time I seem to go inward, becoming more of a homebody as I begin to nest. I start cleaning out and organizing my house as well as taking inventory of my life. I usually do some kind of an internal cleanse for my body. In the fall I always seem to get serious again with my yoga practice, it takes me inward while helping to ground, calm and focus my energy. I also start cooking and reading more. I contemplate and reflect back on what…

the gift of learning patience

Learn the art of patience. Apply discipline to your thoughts when they become anxious over the outcome of a goal. Impatience breeds anxiety, fear, discouragement and failure. Patience creates confidence, decisiveness and a rational outlook, which eventually leads to success. – Brian Adams Over the years I have come to realize that my time is not the only time out there. That other people, things and situations have their own divine timing. I have a few clients that I am working with that are trying to conceive a child, they have been trying or a while and the more they try the more frustrated and stressed they get. Just because they are ready doesn’t mean that that child is ready to be born yet. Children…

The game changing art of practicing gratitude

“Upon awakening, let the words Thank You flow from your lips, for this will remind you to begin your day with gratitude and compassion.” – Wayne Dyer ? If you want to be truly happy and live a rich abundant life then practice the art of being ‪‎thankful‬ .. We are really good at pointing out what others are doing wrong and don’t do enough of telling them what they are doing right ( including ourselves) .Some People tend to be over focused on what they don’t have, sadly missing all the blessings and the beauty that is right in front of them . HERE IS AN INSTANT GAME CHANGER … Every night before bed say 5 things you were grateful for that day ……

Nightly transitions

The energy you bring to bed affects your sleep and the energy you start your day off with sets the pace for your day ahead. By carving out just the smallest amount of personal time to transition yourself to sleep or to start your day with can shift the energy to calm. I’m a Huge fan of journaling before bed. I write out anything I’m worried about, something that upset me that day, a feeling I can’t shake or even my “to do” list (which by the way is always so much bigger in your head then on paper).Writing purges this energy out of the mind, body and spirit by releasing it onto paper, so sleep can be more peaceful. www.loribregman.com

The Transition into motherhood

During pregnancy, it’s not just the baby who is growing — you are also changing. You’re changing physically, but you’re also changing personally and spiritually, too. Good nutrition, sleep, and care are critical for obvious reasons; but sometimes the most important ingredients are overlooked: mindfulness and self-awareness.The metamorphosis of pregnancy is like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly. During pregnancy, you are in the cocoon, transforming, shedding the old, and becoming something new. The emerging butterfly is the birth and postpartum period. You have emerged anew, but you stick close to your cocoon as you get used to your new wings. After a time, you are ready to fly forth as a newborn butterfly with wings that are uniquely yours and only you can grow into. That…

Stressed … Overwhelmed…. Worried …. ? Just Breathe

Pregnancy is such an exciting tme but for many it can be stressful and bring up a lot of fear. When we are stressed or worried we don’t breathe. Next time you are in a stressful situation, stop, be present and notice your breath. Most likely you either aren’t breathing or you are taking short sips of air in. You can shift your whole vibe by just breathing . The slower and deeper you breathe the calmer you will become. Not to mention each time you breathe deep into your belly your baby gets flooded with oxegen which sends blood flow to help nourish them as well as your body. Try this simple breathing exersice the next time you are feeling stressed. Start by placing…
