My Favorite Clean Skincare Products For The Pregnant & Breastfeeding Mama

When you’re expecting, it can feel like that “pregnancy glow” is just a myth. Due to hormones, your skin can go through as many changes as your growing belly does. Some women get hormonal acne, while others suffer from melasma or dry skin. Either way, it’s important that you check the ingredients on your skincare treatments before using them! Last week, I shared my favorite clean makeup picks that are safe for pregnancy. Before we dive into the skincare category, here’s a recap on why it’s so important to detoxify your beauty routine: Since our skin is the largest organ in our bodies, the products we apply can absorb into our bloodstream. And during pregnancy and breastfeeding, that means toxic ingredients can reach the womb…

My Favorite Clean Beauty Products For The Pregnant & Breastfeeding Mama

A safe and healthy environment for your baby begins inside the womb and stems from the food you eat to the supplements you take. While it’s common knowledge to ditch the raw sushi rolls or your favorite skinny margarita, it’s important to pay attention to what you’re applying ON your body, too. Believe it or not, our skin is the largest organ in our body. The products we use can absorb into our bloodstream, and if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, the ingredients go to your baby. A number of studies from the Environmental Working Group (EWG) have shown that common chemicals in everyday personal care products, such as shampoo, makeup, and moisturizers, are associated with developmental, reproductive and behavioral disorders, hormone disruption, and cancer. Don’t…

The Importance Of A Babymoon (+ How To Plan One)

During pregnancy, the relationship you have with your partner goes through a transition. Together, you begin to experience a natural shift between what was and what will be. It’s an exciting, magical and beautiful time that also comes with its share of many sleepless nights, emotional ups and downs and fears and worries. These are the months when it’s important to build a foundation and prepare to embrace the changes as a partnership. That’s why planning a babymoon (like a honeymoon) is the perfect opportunity to connect intimately with your partner and celebrate what was and what’s to come. It’s important to take the time to recharge, connect, and relax to enjoy the calm before the storm. Here are some tips to keep in mind…

Treat her with respect – Choose your birth team wisely

I saw this on The heart of motherhood Facebook page. She is the author who wrote this not me. I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE what she says and could not agree with her more! As a birth worker and pregnancy coach one who holds space during pregnancy and birth for my people, the way a woman is treated during labor is EVERYTHING. This is why choosing your birth team wisely is so important. All of the people who participate in your birth will be holding space for you with their energy and should all work together as a team to best support you. One bad egg can throw off the whole vibe. If you are choosing to birth your baby in a hospital and you don’t care for…

Your baby’s first bath

One of the questions I ask my parents to be while doing the birth plan is, do you want to bathe your baby sooner or  leave the vernix on and bathe later? Babies are born covered in a slimy, milky protective substance called vernix . This substance is made up of skin oil and dead skin that your baby sheds in the womb.  It acts as a protective waterproof barrier that keeps your baby from becoming dehydrated. Vernix develops around week 27 of pregnancy and is there until birth . Preterm babies tend to have more vernix on them then full term babies. As your due date nears the amount of vernix decreases. Vernix has tons of great healing properties such as: Deep moisturizer Helps to…

New mama Wellbeing Jar

Being a new mom as magical and amazing as it is comes with its fair share of hardships. During pregnancy when coaching my moms to be I do a lot of work on self care and empowering them to be their authentic selves as well as supporting them in their truth, whatever that may be. I try to lock this new way in while pregnant because when they become a new mom often all of it goes out the window and they become the last man on the totem pole. When you are depleted and are running on empty its VERY hard to be present, patient, compassionate, loving and understanding. Taking care of yourself is not selfish but an act of self love. When you…

Bubble of peace meditation

One of the first few sessions I do with my clients that do my pregnancy coaching/doula package is to create a bubble of peace that they surround themselves in throughout their pregnancy. It’s not just the foods you eat or the products you use that goes into the foundation that your baby will grow from but also from the energy in which he simmers in. By creating this bubble you set an intention for the way you want to feel during your individual journey into motherhood. Get cozy in a position that feels good to you. Close your eyes and begin to see your pregnant self. Begin to imagine a big bubble all around you. visualize a place that you have been that you…
