Becoming a new mother is a beautiful and vulnerable experience. It’s a time of transition filled with love, elation, anxiety, exhaustion—and insecurity.
I can promise you that everything you might feel as a new mom is normal. In fact, it’s part of the process. Try to remember that you have also given birth to your new identity as a mother. You aren’t SUPPOSED to know everything. It’s okay to have questions and concerns and insecurities; motherhood is a journey that you are constantly learning from.
To help ease the transition, here are some apps that will benefit moms throughout all stages of new motherhood.
This app is a great way to track your baby’s schedule and progress, all in one place. Baby Connect keeps track of hours slept, feedings, diaper changes, pumping sessions, and important milestones.
When you are overwhelmed and tired, it helps to have this easy tool!
It’s normal for a new mom to feel a bit isolated. Surrounding yourself with a community of other moms is important—physically and psychologically, as a support system and a sounding board.
Think of Peanut as a dating app for moms—from pregnancy and beyond. It allows you to create a profile and find likeminded moms to create a community in your own city or neighborhood
I’ve talked about the Baby Shusher before on the blog but good news: It’s also an app! This device and program is a BLESSING to sleep-deprived moms.
It’s originally adapted from Dr. Harvey Karp’s book, The Happiest Baby on The Block, who came up with soothing white-noise sounds to mimic what babies hear inside the womb. I’ve seen babies go from cranky to calm in a few seconds flat!
Headspace is an app that guides you through meditation and breathing exercises to help calm and manage your stress levels—anytime, anywhere. Taking the time out to recharge will allow you to come back a more recharged, relaxed, and confident mother ready to conquer what the world has to throw at her.
This one is specifically for the mamas! Pregnancy and childbirth often cause the muscles in your pelvic floor to weaken—which can result in those “I just sneezed so hard that I peed!” moments. Don’t worry, it’s completely normal! Luckily, there’s now a workout app for it.
Elvie is an easy to use device and app that helps to strengthen those pelvic floor muscles. Once you insert the small pod, Bluetooth will connect the device to an app on your phone which guides you through a series of exercises. Each workout is personalized to your individual needs and goals. A session only lasts five minutes—which is perfect for a busy (and exhausted) new mom!

P.S. At the end of the day, ALWAYS remember that there is no perfect mother or perfect way of doing anything. Use this time of growth to discover what feels right for you, your family, and your child.
MAMAS…YOU GOT THIS!!!
