My Favorite Clean Skincare Products For The Pregnant & Breastfeeding Mama

When you’re expecting, it can feel like that “pregnancy glow” is just a myth. Due to hormones, your skin can go through as many changes as your growing belly does. Some women get hormonal acne, while others suffer from melasma or dry skin. Either way, it’s important that you check the ingredients on your skincare treatments before using them! Last week, I shared my favorite clean makeup picks that are safe for pregnancy. Before we dive into the skincare category, here’s a recap on why it’s so important to detoxify your beauty routine: Since our skin is the largest organ in our bodies, the products we apply can absorb into our bloodstream. And during pregnancy and breastfeeding, that means toxic ingredients can reach the womb…

My Favorite Clean Beauty Products For The Pregnant & Breastfeeding Mama

A safe and healthy environment for your baby begins inside the womb and stems from the food you eat to the supplements you take. While it’s common knowledge to ditch the raw sushi rolls or your favorite skinny margarita, it’s important to pay attention to what you’re applying ON your body, too. Believe it or not, our skin is the largest organ in our body. The products we use can absorb into our bloodstream, and if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, the ingredients go to your baby. A number of studies from the Environmental Working Group (EWG) have shown that common chemicals in everyday personal care products, such as shampoo, makeup, and moisturizers, are associated with developmental, reproductive and behavioral disorders, hormone disruption, and cancer. Don’t…

These are the months when it’s important to build a foundation and prepare to embrace the changes as a partnership. It’s important to take the time to recharge, connect, and relax to enjoy the calm before the storm. Here are some tips to keep in mind…

Intuitive Eating

With all the fad diets and latest trends these days one can get pretty confused when it comes to finding the right foods to eat. I  always check out the latest trends but then tune in to my body and noticed how eating that way makes me feel. I don’t believe that there is a diet thats right for everyone as we are all different. What might be great for one person could be poison for another. When you gets caught up in the latest diet fad and eat that way because its the cool thing to do, your body might be giving you signs it needs something else that often goes unnoticed. I have found that when I eat intuitively and  listen to my…

Treat her with respect – Choose your birth team wisely

I saw this on The heart of motherhood Facebook page. She is the author who wrote this not me. I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE what she says and could not agree with her more! As a birth worker and pregnancy coach one who holds space during pregnancy and birth for my people, the way a woman is treated during labor is EVERYTHING. This is why choosing your birth team wisely is so important. All of the people who participate in your birth will be holding space for you with their energy and should all work together as a team to best support you. One bad egg can throw off the whole vibe. If you are choosing to birth your baby in a hospital and you don’t care for…

Grow Slow and steady if you want a solid foundation

“Don’t try to rush things that need time to grow” The other day I was doing some coaching with a mom client of mine who is starting a new business. She was saying how impatient she was getting about how long it was talking her to build her business. When you are building any kind of a strong and solid foundation no matter what kind (relationship, career… and so on) its always best to build slow and steady. There is a natural divine order and timing to all things. If you try and grow to fast you will miss  out on all the stepping stones that pop up day to day. Rushing like a horse with blinders on with only the finish line in sight…

Your baby’s first bath

One of the questions I ask my parents to be while doing the birth plan is, do you want to bathe your baby sooner or  leave the vernix on and bathe later? Babies are born covered in a slimy, milky protective substance called vernix . This substance is made up of skin oil and dead skin that your baby sheds in the womb.  It acts as a protective waterproof barrier that keeps your baby from becoming dehydrated. Vernix develops around week 27 of pregnancy and is there until birth . Preterm babies tend to have more vernix on them then full term babies. As your due date nears the amount of vernix decreases. Vernix has tons of great healing properties such as: Deep moisturizer Helps to…
